Blackburn Hawks Ice Hockey Club continues to build from the ground up with the addition of a new Team Manager in the shape of Adrian (Adey) Charnock.
Adey is no stranger to the team or the Arena – he’s been a fan of the club for a few years now and is often seen at many an away game too.
He’s well-travelled and has taken in many a Hockey game in Europe. His background is in the organization, being a Project Manager in his everyday life.
Hawks Co-Owner Graham Lomax commented:
“I’d been scratching my head for the right person to fill this role since we took ownership and I knew we had to take the time needed to get the appointment right. It’s a vital role in the business and one that requires a certain type of individual with the right skill set.
I’ve spent quite a bit of time with Adey over the last year or so and got to know him a lot better and I got a feel for him as a person and what he was about. He’s a “Hockey Guy” – he gets it! We decided it was time for the “official” chat, and so he was invited to Hawks HQ for a coffee to see if it was something we could all agree on.
Once again I believe Carl and I have come up trumps with the appointment, Adey was most definitely our guy, he is brimming with excitement about the future, he is passionate and full of ideas. He is also ultra-professional about how we implement the changes and how things needed to be different to make us the best we can be. I have to say we were both convinced then and there we had our Man, he’ll be a breath of fresh air to the organization.
We look forward to working together over the coming months, we know he’ll make a cracking addition to the team.
Welcome aboard Adey!”
Adey spoke of his delight at his appointment:
“This will be my 7th year supporting the Hawks, and it’s great to be asked to be Team Manager. I knew what Graham and Carl were putting together and the direction the organisation is heading, so when I got the call and met with them to discuss the position, it was an easy decision to accept the offer.
I truly believe that Ice Hockey is a great product and a wholly inclusive family sport to be enjoyed by all, and at Blackburn Hawks, we want to see the fans entertained in this fast, physical & skilful game. Unfortunately, Ice Hockey is still a minority sport in the UK, but hopefully, we can grow the interest in our surrounding area, through the Project going forward, and get more people watching and ultimately bring through the next generation of skaters and new fans. I look forward to working closely with everyone and playing a part in the journey ahead and making the Hawks successful on and off the ice.”
