We are delighted to announce that we have recruited long time loyal Hawks fan, Sharon Welch, for the vital role of Child Safeguarding Officer.
Carl Everitt spoke of his delight at bringing Sharon on board in the role:
‘When it came to rebuilding the club it was essential that we display the key fundamental values of a community ice hockey club and therefore it was hugely important that we appointed the right person to be the club’s Child Safeguarding Officer.
This is a key lead decision and therefore I immediately thought that Sharon was the ideal fit and was delighted that Sharon almost instantly agreed to come on board.
As the lead safeguarding officer, Sharon is the designated person within our organization with primary responsibility for managing and reporting concerns about children and for putting into place procedures to safeguard children in our Senior Ice Hockey organization.
On behalf of myself and the Hawks Management Team, I would like to thank Sharon for her support and commitment and helping us with #ProjectHawks’
‘I have been supporting Hawks home and away for 17 years. I love the atmosphere and have made some great friends, affectionately known as our hockey family. As a teacher and gym coach, I have undertaken annual training in safeguarding. In order to climb high you need a firm base to stand on and I believe that is what Carl and Graham are endeavoring to do – create a firm foundation to build on. I am pleased to have been asked to be part of that team and am excited to see what the future will bring. COYH!’
