The Blackburn Hawks are honored to announce that the role of Lifetime Club President has been bestowed upon our much loved and respected loyal supporter Eddie Brigdale.
Co-Owners Graham Lomax and Carl Everitt issued the following statement:
Lifetime Club President was the least we could do for Eddie and with that, we feel it shows respect to his late wife Joan too. It was one of the first ideas that Carl and I came up with and it really is fitting and long overdue.
I’ve personally known both of them as long as I’ve been involved with the club and I’ve dealt with them behind the scenes when they’ve gone out on a limb and helped out financially too which a lot of people won’t and don’t know about.
The support they’ve given just as supporters alone deserved recognition as I’ve witnessed them all over the country watching the Hawks on late winter nights.
So on behalf of the Club, thank you for everything you’ve done, we hope you like our gesture and we look forward to greeting you and your family when those Arena doors finally open when you’ll be escorted through them before anyone else and escorted to your seat as our honored President. To Eddie and Joan thank you xx
Recently retired club stalwart Ollie Lomax and all-time leading goal scorer Aaron Davies both pay tribute to Eddie and Joan:
‘When Carl and Graham announced to me that Eddie Brigdale would become a life president at the club, you couldn’t not feel moved. Not only that but the reception he received from everyone when he handed over the coveted “Brigdale Shield” to the Golf Day winners Planet Ice, was so just.
The time, finance, effort, and energy that Eddie & Joan have dedicated to the club has been massive over the years, with most of their work going unnoticed. Not for myself & Aaron, we both know first hand the monumental contribution that the Brigdales have given.
There is no better recipient to receive a life presidency than Eddie & I look forward to seeing him and his family at the Arena. Doff of the cap to Carl & Graham.” – Ollie Lomax #21
‘I can’t say enough about the presence of Eddie and Joan around the Hawks. Since coming here, he and Joan have always made me welcome and he is always ready for a chat. The term ‘Legend’ doesn’t get thrown around much at Blackburn, but Eddie is a true legend of the Hawks. He has already supported my career from my first game for the Hawks and even now in my 17th season, so him being made Club President is an honour as he has always put the hawks first and always will. We all know home or away Eddie and Joan would be there, and even now he’s trying to make it as much as he can and that shows how much he loves the Hawks. I owe so much to Eddie and Joan, I’ll always be thankful for what he has done for me. A true legend Eddie, thank you.’ – Aaron Davies #8
