Academy

The Blackburn Hawks Academy is a junior Ice Hockey Club playing in the EIHA junior leagues with teams from U10’s to U16 and women's. With a player pathway to the Blackburn Hawks and The Renegades.

We help players start their hockey career and work with them to become the best players and people they can be.

We train at Plant Ice Blackburn arena, which was opened in January 1991 by Jayne Torvill and Christopher Dean!

Join us How to Join the academy

You have decided you want to play ice hockey, the first thing you need to do is learn to skate.

Blackburn Hawks Academy recommends starting with the Planet Ice Hockey Excellence programme which is ran by our team coaches on a Tuesday night 6PM till 7PM

Hockey Excellence is aimed at complete beginners and will give learners the best start in learning the game.

Since the fundamentals of playing hockey involve skating, we want to make sure the learner who has an interest in playing is starting off correctly with the tools to succeed.

The course will cover both skating and hockey skills in a block of 6 lessons during the term, When the player meets a certain level, you will be invited to attend our academy training sessions.

Join us Ready to Join?

When you are ready to join a team, you will also need to own all the necessary kit to play, we do have kit that can be borrowed to start.

It is important to Blackburn Hawks Academy that we are open to the whole community. Subscription fees are currently £85 per month but we understand that this may not be affordable for all families.

We therefore have the option of reduced price membership. Those who are interested in joining the club and want to take advantage of the reduced price membership must apply to the secretary of the club ([email protected]) and demonstrate that the full cost of membership would not be affordable to them.
