Blackburn Hawks Ice Hockey Club are saddened to announce the departure of #96 Devids Jurinenoks by mutual consent.

At the start of this week Devids approached the coaching staff and requested his release from the club. He has stated that this is in the best interest of his career both on and off the ice. Blackburn Hawks ice hockey club although bitterly disappointed, always endeavour to support every players welfare.

Devids joined the club at the start of the 2022-2023 season under Dom & Ollie playing as a forward for the first two seasons before taking his natural position on the blue line this term. He was a key member in capturing the Moralee cup & playoff double in 2024 and he will be remembered fondly by all at the club.

Head coach Dom Osman had the following to say:

“I’ve known Devids for a few years now, and I have to say it was a shock to me when when we spoke. I understand his position and support it fully.”

“We want guys who are 100% committed to Blackburn, and it has to be the right fit for both parties. I’d like to extend my thanks to Devids and wish him the best of luck.”

“It’s a hole to be filled, but nonetheless, we are committed to fill this hole with a high calibre player. We are looking but are completely comfortable with the guys in the room to get the job done in the meantime.”

The coaching staff are actively looking for new additions to the roster before the January 31st deadline & the board will be supporting them fully with this.

All involved in Blackburn Hawks Ice hockey club thank Devids for his service and wish him well in the future.
