read what Head Coach Dom has to say on signing Andy McKinney

This is a statement signing for us for sure.
I have known Andy for a long time. Our goal is always to attract quality players but most of all quality people. He’s exactly that. We played in the Elite league together when I first came over to the country so I’ve known him forever. He brings so much to our already dangerous forward line up in terms of offense, grit and complete level. This is something we have looked to build on from last year’s success. Every team has improved this season and so have we.

His compete level is second to none and is starving to win again. He knows what it takes to win being a part of a lot of playoff success over the years at all levels and this will be key to help boost us in that sense.

I have spoken to him quite a bit over the last couple years and we’ve waited for the stars to line up. He is a well respected all around top guy to add around the room on experience alone. Our younger guys will learn so much from having him and opens up the option to spread our threats across the line up.

I am so excited to work along side him and can’t wait to see what we can accomplish as a team with him here.

McKinney on signing in Blackburn.

Im really pleased to be on board with the Blackburn Hawks, a club steeped in history.

Really excited to be playing for Ozzie, we’ve kept in talks since July and he’s been really patient with me, whilst I’ve some family commitments going on.

Me and Ozzie are no strangers having played together in Hull for the Stingrays some 12 years ago (old blokes)

I want to help build on this clubs success from last season and win a trophy or 2.

The league has got stronger again so it’s going to be a challenge with some quality imports across the league.

I’m ready for the challenge.

#91 McKinney
