Blackburn Hawks Ice Hockey Club are delighted to be able to announce that Nick Riley will be returning to the team as Equipment Manager alongside Anthony Thomas for the season 2023/24
Nick was a regular at the Arena for several seasons and a very popular figure within the Hawks dressing room, Nick’s circumstances changed with work and family and they had to come first which goes without saying.
Nick will manage the role with Anthony and provide all the guys with their matchday and training needs in the utmost professional way, everyone at the club is looking forward to having KMG around once again.
Nick commented on the appointment:
“I’m absolutely delighted to be back involved with the Hawks again.
Two years ago I left with a heavy heart but I also thought it was the right decision regarding my personal circumstances at the time.
But after speaking with the owners and management team about making a return it was a no-brainer.
I can’t wait to start working with Anthony and the rest of the team.
Roll on the new season.”
KMG
Co-Owner Graham Lomax had the following to say about the position:
“It became clear very early on last season that the role of Equipment Manager had grown considerably with the evolution of the club, and as a bi-product of this it needed another pair of hands, at times Anthony (Thomas) was swamped with the work load, but coped admirably, but we’re not about that, we’re about strengthening were we need to, at times I was personally putting in a shift myself due to the nature of the job, it’s something I really don’t mind doing, but at the same time, I could and probably should be doing other things.
Nick brings a wealth of experience with him having been around the Rink for so long, and he’s also a very popular guy.
Carl and I spoke about the role evolving and we identified we needed strengthening and looked at who and where.
Nick is a regular in my office and we talk Hockey a lot, during one conversation I could see the passion was still there, so I called him and asked about his availability, to my joy his circumstances have somewhat changed, which now allows him for freedom and flexibility.
We know him and Anthony will make an excellent team, and personally, I can’t wait to see him in a Hawks Tracksuit once again.
Welcome back KMG”
