Your Blackburn Hawks are proud to announce that as part of our passion for creating a pathway from the academy through to professional hockey, we have now formed an official affiliation with the local Recreational Hockey Team, the Blackburn Renegades.

The Blackburn Renegades are a newly formed Recreational Ice Hockey team playing out of Blackburn. A team that gives people from all backgrounds a chance to get into the sport and have fun.

Renegades Team Management had the following to say on the partnership;

‘We’re really happy about this affiliation and what it brings! Our first session with Jared Dickinson and Aaron Davies coaching our session was a really welcome change of pace and atmosphere. Seeing the team really get stuck into new and challenging drills was amazing to watch.

Ice Hockey is growing in popularity and rec hockey gives people a chance to give the sport a go, a lot of our players have started playing within the last 4-5 years. Some played in their youth, some are ex league and looking to get back into the sport and a majority are brand new to the sport!

I strongly encourage anyone wanting to give the sport a try to get down to the Hockey basics/Stick and puck session and get involved!’

Hawks Co-Owner, Carl Everitt stated:

‘For us, as a Club and the local community, it’s important that we continue to create a pathway for players to follow; from the Junior Setup then into league hockey; or maybe they move into Rec Hockey. Either way this keeps people in the sport and grows the hockey community in Blackburn which is important for the future.

The Blackburn Renegades are newly formed however they’re a very well run Rec team with fantastic values and they don’t lose sight of the fact that we play Ice Hockey to have fun first and foremost which is great to see. We look forward to working with Matt, James and the Renegades moving forwards and creating a great partnership’.
