We are now into a two weekend break without any competitive hockey for the Hawks. The reason for this is, as some of you may be aware, our Head Coach, Mike Clancy, is also the Great Britain Senior International Women’s team Head Coach too, in a dual role he carries out.

As part of our continued support for Mike and the International team, we requested a break in fixtures at this time to allow him to fulfil this role, as this group qualifying was originally scheduled for South Korea. The ladies are now competing in Nottingham next week, looking to progress to the next stage of the Winter Olympic qualifying for Beijing 2022.

Mike also has the support of our netminding coach, Dave Clancy, and our kit manager, Charles Humphreys, so there is a strong Hawks connection with the Women’s International team, which we as a club are immensely proud of and will continue to support them in their quest for glory.

The games next week are –

Thursday 7th October
v Iceland – 7pm

Friday 8th October
v Slovenia – 7pm

Sunday 10th October
v Korea – 5pm

Speaking with Mike, he is confident that the team can get past this stage and into the next group, which is also a winnable group.

All of us associated with the Hawks would like to wish Mike and the whole team, the very best of luck and we wish them well in their pursuit of Olympic qualification.
