Club2020-2021 Season Update

September 9, 20200

Blackburn Hawks management have been informed of Planet Ice’s decision that there will be no senior ice hockey league games taking place in their rinks until the 1st January 2021 at the earliest.

We are still currently experiencing unprecedented circumstances where we are unable to plan a return to ice rinks given both the unknowns of capacities (which in turn affects operating budgets, and the effect of any possible future local restrictions would have on the league schedule).  It is also unknown what the consequences or procedure will be in the event that a team member may test positive for Covid-19.

We appreciate the frustration this may cause as we all look forward to a return to the ‘new normal’, whenever and whatever that may be, but we must try to minimise the chances of games having to be cancelled at the last minute due to local lockdowns or players receiving a positive Covid-19 test result.

Planet Ice have advised that they will consider piloting friendlies and cup games in the run up to January 1st to ensure rinks are prepared for supporters to raise the roof again.

We can guarantee that we, as a club, are all working hard behind the scenes with more announcements to come over the coming weeks including:

– Official Jersey Launch

– Your Hawks Coaching Team

– Opening your new HawksStore

We would like to thank you for your continued patience, but most of all, for your valued support!
