Hawks line up 13+2, Solihull Barons 17+2
The Blackburn Hawks travelled to the midlands with a depleted team on Sunday for an NIHL North 1 clash with the Solihull Barons, hoping for a positive result against a side hotly tipped to be in the running to pick up some silverware this season.
With less than a minute played the Barons used pace to draw Hawks defence and their netminder Harrison Walker wide. As the puck was passed across the face of goal former Hawk Adam Brittle slotted the puck home behind Harrison’s back.

The goal sparked Hawks to seek revenge as Hawks’ recent signing Ethan Mayoh passed the puck out to Jared Dickinson who fired from the slot to find the top corner of the net to even the score.
Solihull Barons 1-1 BLACKBURN HAWKS
After continuous end to end play Hawks claimed the puck in the neutral zone and James Royds, set up by new signing Corey Lee, fired a huge slap shot from the slot to back of the net giving Blackburn the lead to take into the second period, but were left a man short after Jared Dickinson was sent to the penalty box for 2 minutes for interference. The referee also handed Dickinson a 10 minute misconduct penalty following a discussion where Jared vented his frustration.
Solihull Barons 1-2 BLACKBURN HAWKS
The Hawks travelling faithful were treated to some heroic saves from netminder Harrison before Barons’ persistance paid off as Marcus Maynard sailed into Hawks’ defensive zone down the right wing. After cutting in towards goal, he nutmegged Harrison with a cracking goal to even the scores once more.
SOLIHULL BARONS 2-2 Blackburn Hawks
After a time out was called to cool frayed tempers, the Barons won the face off and took the puck to the other face off circle. A shot from Solihull’s Tom Soar hit Harrison and continued in off his body giving the Barons the lead again.
SOLIHULL BARONS 3-2 Blackburn Hawks
In a comeback from the Hawks, Lee Pollitt fired a tape to tape pass to Ronnie Grimes in front of the far post. Ronnie responded, and making no mistake, sniped the shot home to level up at 3 a piece.
Solihull Barons 3-3 BLACKBURN HAWKS
Again, both sets of fans were treated to plenty of end to end play as the Barons counter attack quickly. Richard Slater fired the puck into the right of the net for the Midlands outfit.
SOLIHULL BARONS 4-3 Blackburn Hawks
Petr Valusiak soon evened things up for Blackburn. As Hawks made a quick attack of their own. James Neil flew over the blue line but went wide of the near post and dropped the puck back to Petr. Petr whipped the puck in and, although it caught a bit of Danny Brittles leg, it was enough to cross the goal line.
Solihull Barons 4-4 BLACKBURN HAWKS
Sadly it just wasn’t Blackburn’s night though as the Barons netted a 5th from Thomas Soar then a 6th from ex-Hawk Adam Brittle to snatch the victory.
Barons up the ante and take it back to Hawks. Petr lands a big hit on a Baron who goes into the boards and Petr and Barons’ Elliott Perrin drop the gloves. Petr takes a 2+2+2 penalty for boarding and fighting . Perrin takes a 2+2 for fighting
With the Barons on a power play they break into the final third and take a quick powerful shot from the face off circle to Harrison’s right. It’s over his shoulder and into the top corner.

Barons don’t let up and strike again quickly. Addy Brittle drags the puck across crease and around Harrison to slot the puck home inside the far post.
