Hawks Community manager Chris Riley and his team have been out and about visiting schools and meeting community groups again since the last update.
Last Thursday he visited St Anthony’s Primary School in Blackburn and on Friday it was St Edwards in Darwen. One of Hawks promising juniors Cian Shorrock is a pupil at St Edwards and he dressed in his kit and also shared his experiences in hockey to his school friends.
Chris spoke at both schools about Ice Hockey in general and the Hawks as well as taking a selection of hockey kit along. He was accompanied by Hawks favourite fan Harvey. Pupils were also given a letter about forthcoming games.
On Saturday the team went to the AHF girls Scout group.
This week they visited St Charles Primary School Rishton and the Madrassah Group AHF and the WEGS female group from One Voice foundation from Blackburn visited the rink.
As a result of visits recently, 520 tickets have been sold for this weeks game against Whitley Warriors.
The following groups will be attending:
Whalley Primary School Whalley
Huncoat Primary School Accrington
Shadsworth Primary School Blackburn
AHF Scout Group Blackburn
St. Francis Cub Group Blackburn
They will be sat in Blocks 2 and 3 and if the atmosphere created is anything like previous visits, the Nest will be rocking.
The team still have 7 more visits to complete before the end of the season, taking the total visits to 35 since the project started in November.
Next season they have big plans to increase the community output, creating and sustaining links with organisations throughout Lancashire.
