Andrew Stephen Dunn – 2015-2016 League & Playoff Champion.
What did Andy bring to the club?
Dunny came to the Hawks as an established defenceman after several seasons in the Altrincham setup. He has since cemented that reputation in his return to his home town club. He is very defensively minded with an unbelievable knowledge of the game. Dunny’s presence in the dressing room was a massive contribution to the team – always ready to help and advise the rest of the roster. Not known as a goal scorer, but definitely knows how to break down attacks and transition the play up the ice, with a calm pass. A player that any team would love to have in their team, even if he is always on the injured list. He is known as one half of “Salford Rough”. The other being chief knuckle chucker Lee Pollitt.
What’s my favourite moment of Andy in a Hawks shirt?
My favourite moment of Dunny was the playoff final against Solihull, he got hurt and had to be taken to the first aid room whilst the game was still being played. The final buzzer went and after the celebrations, me and Lee went to go give him his winners medal, but he was still spaced out and didn’t have a clue what it was for. A memory off the ice is that Dunny loves his food and many a time during a meal he would claim it was his birthday just so he could blag free cake.
What do I think Andy will be like as a golfer?
Well he doesn’t seem to spend much time at work as he’s always playing or wanting people to join him for a round, but we all work normal jobs. I can see him being a solid player to have on your team & guaranteed he will be the freshest dressed on the day.
